Not only banks get robbed, houses get burgled, safes get broken into, locks get picked, handbags and purses get snatched away from innocent and unsuspecting individuals and companies; there is a growing trend of threat as regards online identity protection today and you must be aware and prepared against it.

There are scams being perpetrated upon unsuspecting users of the internet day in and day out and the only solution is for you to be personally to take care of your own identity protection and prevention yourself. This is not extent to say it is getting worse, but it is for sure you must be prepared especially if you are using the internet for your business and/or running a personal site or blog.

– Do not click on banner advertisements which say “Errors detected on your computer”, “Your computer has been infected with spyware”, etc. because it might contain active elements that can steal your user information.

– Make sure your web-browsers are updated.

– User Accounts on your computer must beblank and must be emptied any time you start your computer.

– Avoid visiting sites that offer to clean your computer of adware and spyware.

– Disable your web-browser’s pop-out menu or “Active Protect” option. They can’t detect which website is sending an unwanted pop-up advertisement.

– Make sure your cookie settings are secure or none at all.

– Never forget to switch off your DSL connection if you are doing something on it that you shouldn’t be.
