Is There Some Way To Limit Logins To Websites?

Prevention could be better than a cureOne way is to prevent hackers even wanting to try. If they see a login form that just wants a password then they just have to guess that. But, if that form also wants a user id that they cannot easily guess, then the complexity of a brute force attack increases fantastically. The chances are that your login Ids are going to be leaked eventually, whether it be by a hacker or by your own administrator. Even without leaking your actual login Id, a bad user can use a brute force attack to figure out your user id and try to login with it. Now, before you start screaming, another issue with a brute force attack is that it will run in the background, and your computer itself is usually not fast enough to cope with the load.

I haven’t even mentioned file(s) permissions. Imagine trying to login to a website, only to find out that the only thing you can see is an image of the login page. If you are running a HTML site then you can use a tool called webshield to give you the same level of protection, where you can also change the username freely.

But why is this option unavailable to you? Don’t want to spoil the fun for others? Well, in a nutshell, there are two reasons. The first is that not every web browser offers it, and the second is that there just isn’t enough bandwidth available to do it efficiently. But before you start raging at me, let me explain both of these reasons. The first reason is technical. My friend who’s had a baby in the last two weeks, will not be able to use my site for three weeks. The second is more personal. How do you think the likes of Natasha (the newest member) are going to handle being asked to guest blog on our website?

BTL please don’t guest post anymore because it’s a trap! I don’t know why you would want to invite someone into your house for three weeks. What do you have to do for your babymoon cruise? Cause that’s not nice, and it’s not nice to ask someone to teeter on your teacup.

Does that mean that it’s impossible for you to guest post on other sites? Of course it is. If you want to do it, then you need to ask for permission first. If you are being specifically targeted, then you’ll find out quickly if it is or is not a good idea. The vast majority of sites that allow you to make a post that can contain more information about you or your family would also ask you to read their privacy policy before you go about setting up the account. If it is about your child or about your relationship, then you definitely want to counteract that by being as vague as possible. If you can’t get that detail, then it is probably a bad idea to go about it without checking with the parent site. If in doubt, then consult with your parent site or a parent of a child that is using the site.

VI. RidiculeIs it possible for grown men to sit at home all day receiving emails from like-minded individuals? sadly, this is a growing trend. However, do they really need to be sending dozens of emails every day? If you think twice about it, it probably is. So what do they do to manage this enormous load? They use special programs to divert spam from their servers. These programs scan the network addresses in their address book and choose a few addresses (usually just one) that are guaranteed to attract every one of the 1000’s of spammers that are flooding the internet. Then, these users are promised that their email will be delivered to their customers without further hassle.

Sounds good right? Well, there is no promise that this process will not happen to you. Most of us have received an email at one point or another from some foreigner asking for The Empire’s Protection. Each one has its own little twists on the tried and true “spam proof” process. Some include specific links to web sites that promise to this effect. Others merely mention the need for “more SUVs for our SU staff”. There really is no way to improve upon what has been done before.

What is new is that The Empire has decided to make a big thing about their SU account. They’ve made it quite easy to sign up. They recommend that you no longer use your home computer for your internet activities. If you do, then you must use an internet service that is managed by a third party that is reliable. Website hosting is still done by your internet provider which also offers them services. In other cases, you may be requested to forward hundreds and possibly thousands of emails to your web host. And, of course, all this is dependent on how much they are willing to spend.
