Computers – A Top Target For Burglary?

There is no question that work is a pain. To sit at a computer and do work is to subject your back and knees to damage while those around you can see you doing it. Those around you can record what you are doing and let other people see you on video. It is a serious concern that constitutes a security threat.

The real problem with computers is that they are a top target for break-ins, trespassing and mugging. There is no question about that. But, there are some simple measures that you can take to protect yourself.

First, make sure that you have a firewall installed. The majority of computers are connected to the Internet via a digital cable, which means that the computer is open for hackers to try to get into. A firewall will keep a digital tap hole in the wall (your computer) and will show you on a network trace what is happening with your computer. Hackers look for any way to get into your computer to steal your info or just for the heck of it. Setting up a firewall will keep your computer safe from them.

If you have a broadband connection, then you have a dedicated connection to the Internet. That means that when you are on the Internet, you are connection to all the computers that are currently connected. That also means that if there are computers that are on their way to connecting to the Internet, they can join your network, and then extend network access to you. This is a great way to secure your connection. However, you must have firewall protection software installed on your computer to enable this feature.

Second, install an anti-virus program on your computer. Make sure that you keep this program up-to-date and make sure that you enable automatic updates so that you are protected as soon as a threat is detected.

Third, use a proxy while browsing the Internet. This is a program that connects your computer to the Internet through a website with a different IP address. While surfing this way, don’t use your real IP address. Instead, use a fake IP address that is generated with a random number of characters and then connects you to the website. This step is very important because it protects your real IP address from being viewed by anyone else who is using the website. While you are connected to the Internet, the proxy server will filter your data so that no one else can see your real IP address.

Fourth, turn of your computer when you are not using it. The best way to do this is to set your computer to do “directory synchronization”. This means that your computer will watch a special place in your hard drive where files are stored and whenever you add or delete a file, the change is automatically programmed into the location. This is very important because if you accidentally delete a file, you will notice.

Fifth, erase your history. Your computer holds a record of every website that you have visited – long before you ever realized that it was stored in your computer. By default, the history is not deleted and it is left there by design. However, if you are interested in deleting your history, follow this procedure:

Step 1: Locate the Internet History folder in your computer.

Step 2: Open the folder and click on the History button.

Step 3: There is a button called “Show Hidden Files and Folders”. Press this button.

Step 4: You will see a list of files and folders that are not visible. Under each of these folders is a link. You must remove the link.

Step 5: Under the unknown folder, there will be a file with a word.exe file. Once you find this file, click on it and press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Step 6: In the new window, click on Advanced and then click on Clean Up.

Step 7: In the next window, click on the YES button.

Step 8: In the next window, click on Yes to continue.

Step 9: Once you have clicked on Yes, the computer will uninstall WinPC Defender.

But, if you decide to run a different anti-virus program on your computer, you will need to install a new program that specifically identifies and removes the WinPC Defender. This is not an option you will want to take on yourself because it is a frustrating time for computer users.

Instead of constantly having to remove this program, you now have a tool that allows you to scan your computer and then remove the WinPC Defender. A free program called AdAware is one of the best options on the market. It is a scanners tool that focuses on customers computer including any hardware or software inside.
